You’ll stay at a beautifully rustic, restored mansion located in Bristol, TN, surrounded by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Tennessee. Bristol, Tennessee, the “Birthplace of Country Music,” is a destination for motor-sports fans, outdoors-lovers and American history buffs, and the now famous Geico National TV Commercial – one foot in Tennessee and the one foot in Virginia!

 

3 day, 2 night workshop with a full agenda!

 

Included – All lodging and all meals, coffee, tea, snacks, daily lectures, outdoor activities,  writing exercises, workshops, free writing time, a question & answer session, and a  ‘get inspired’ tour to the twin cities, Bristol, VA and Bristol, TN.

(Friday Check in is 3:00 p.m.) Tricities Airport pickup included.

 

Arrive on Friday (or early arrival on Thursday offered), meet and mingle Friday evening by the poolside, and later, enjoy a delicious prepared dinner.  Open discussion and writing assignment.

 

(Early arrival on Thursday, June 20 – 3:00 check in. In addition to writers’ activities on Friday, excursions include visiting the World Famous Bristol Motor Speedway and a thrill ride on the racetrack, a scenic relaxing stroll at the local waterfall at Steele Creek Park, shopping the Pinnacle with many restaurants and fun shopping, and much more planned for Friday.)

 

Saturday morning begins at 8:00-9:00 with breakfast and moves into the day’s agenda with speakers, lectures, a Q &A discussion, networking, etc.

 

Lunch – Enjoy a Downtown ‘Be Inspired’ tour.

  •  Downtown tour – Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant providing local cuisine.
  •  Visit the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, a museum celebrating the historic 1927 Bristol Sessions, which recorded some of earliest country music in America when the Carter Family, Jimmie Rogers, and several other musicians recorded for the first time before gaining prominence.
  • Visit the homegrown, well-known Blackbird Bakery for desserts and/or walk through the gift shops and antiques shops to be inspired by the small town atmosphere.

 

Mid-afternoon – Return to group sessions for workshop and writing instruction.

 

Late afternoon – Take advantage of a one-on-one question and answer session. Free writing time.

 

Pre-Dinner -Wine and Word – Appetizers provided with the pairing of local wines to local published books.  Wines from the local region will be paired with local authors’ works.

 

Dinner – Capped off with a traditional group dinner and wine.

 

After Dinner – Mix and Mingle poolside. Movie.

Pre-Registration:   $1,200 per person through May 30.

 

Late Registration:   June 1 – June 15 is $1,950 per person.

Event is based on 10 participants. If registration does not meet 10 guests requirement, full refund provided. Non-smoking rooms.
